Green House Music

Green House Music was started around 1996 by founders Brooks Rongstad and Nathan Larson as a vehicle to release their work along with other ambient and experimental artists from around the world. With little resources available at the time, Brooks and Nathan traveled from the port city of Duluth to Minneapolis to try and solidify their dreams. Upon meeting up with James Coplin, a like minded individual and fellow producer/musician in 1998, the Green House Music dream became a reality!

The first release on GHM was "Convergent Evolution" debuting in 1999. This multi-artist compilation featured established artists such as Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana, and Vir Unis; as well as newer artists like label founders Samsa (Nathan Larson), Exuviae (Brooks Rongstad), and Mono No Aware (James Coplin). With this release, Green House realized it's full potential in the music community and was determined to continue moving forward into the nether regions of electronic music.

Immediately following "Convergent Evolution", Green House Music launched the debut Vir Unis album, "The Drift Inside". This release quickly attained international attention for it's different 'beatless' sound rather than the 'fractal' works that Vir Unis had previously been known for. "The Drift Inside" was found at the top of several national and international radio playlists as well as being the first GHM release to be heard on the nationally syndicated "Hearts of Space" radio program.

Over the next year Green House Music continued releasing high-quality music with works from Exuviae and a follow-up from Vir Unis. In 2001, after two years of work, GHM released "Blood Machine"; the follow-up to the critically acclaimed "Body Electric" by Steve Roach and Vir Unis. This work was a metamorphosis in electronic music by combining classic deep-space soundworlds with electro-analog pulse and rhythm continuing the "Body Electric" and "Light Fantastic" saga. 2001 also welcomed Saul Stokes into the GHM fold with the release of "Abstraction". Using his self-built synthesizers and control devices, Saul collected the sum of a two-year live experience to create the third installation in his 'collector series'.

In 2002, Green House Music continues it's reputation for releasing high-quality music by offering their first work of the year titled "Prayer for the Forest" by Alio Die and Antonio Testa. GHM will also be introducing some new and exciting works that will take ambient and experimental music to an all-new level.

The future of electronic music is consistently opening new doors for artists of all styles, and Green House Music is a driving force into the vast regions that lie ahead. Special thanks to all of the like-minded artists, producers, reviewers, radio promoters, and fans for their undying support towards the music of GHM!
