dw091 - palancar - précis Ambient music often tends towards long pieces with deep immersion. In developing this collection, Darrell Burgan wondered what would happen if he tried to create deliberately short pieces, while still staying firmly in ambient territory. He found that it was not unlike attempting haiku, brief poems in which every word must be chosen with great care, in which subtlety and brevity are themselves the primary focus. The result was this album, twenty pieces ranging from darkness to light and from abstraction to tangibility.
